Introduction: Jamia Islamia Ashraful
Ulum Madrasah and Orphanage was established in 1987, in the district of
Faridpur of Bangladesh.
After two and a half decades this institution has been able to make a room as
one of the famous Islamic educational institutions of Faridpur District of
Bangladesh. But the establishment of such an institution was not so easy a
task. Within 100 yards of the institution there are a Christian Missionary and
a Hindu religious quarter named Sree Angan. In spite of this difficult location,
the Madrasah has been able to come to this position only by the grace of
Almighty Allah. This institution is registered under the People Republic of
Bangladesh Govt. with the registration No. Farid 792. May Allah bless this institution with all the
prosperity of selfless service for Islam.
Foundation: Beneath its history of the
foundation, there is a name hidden within. By the grace of Allah, one devoted
person with his faith and perseverance has been able to lead the institution to
this position. He is Alhajj Hafiz Kabir
Ahmad. He is the founder principal of Jamia Islamia Ashraful Ulum Madrasah
and Orphanage till now. The Madrasah was at the beginning founded on a piece of
land of only 8 decimals. But with great difficulty this small piece of land was
developed into a bigger land of 200 decimals. Undoubtedly, Alhajj Hafiz Kabir
Ahmad has overcome this difficulty only by the bounteous grace of Allah.
Eduactional
Activities: At the beginning, the
Madrasah had only Maqtab and Hifz sections. But later the activities were not
confined to this only. At present, the Madrasah has a Noorani Maqtab section
where Islamic education and conception germinate into the hearts of juveniles.
Besides this, Bangla, Mathematics and English are taught with proper care. The
Hifz section at present is more dedicated. Students are encouraged to complete
their Hifz perfectly by three-year time. There is also a Qitab section where
students can complete their education with the National Curriculum from Ibtadai
to Secondary level. There are dedicated experienced teachers to conduct all
these educational streams.
All the curriculums are set by well-known Alims and
educators. Among them there are Shaikhul
Hadith Allama Azizul Haque (the first translator and interpreter of Bukhari
Sharif into Bangla and famous interpreter of Hadith in the subcontinent), Mufti Abdur Rahman (Director, Islamic
Research Centre, Bashundhara, Dhaka), Maolana
Mahiuddin Khan (Editor, the Monthly Madina), Maolana Abdul Halim Bukhari (Director General, Patiya Madrasah,
Chittagong), Maolana Junaed Al-Habib
(Secretary General, National Sirat Committee). Moolana Mufti Fazlul Haque Amine (Member of the Parliament and Director
General of the Bangladesh
Islamic Yakkojot), Mufti Ahmad Sofi (
Chairman Kawoami Madrasha Education Board), Mr.
Ali Ahoshan Md. Mojahid (Formar Minister), Chowdhury Kamal Ibna Youshub (Formar Minister).
Charitable
Activities: This institution is not only for education. Nor is this merely an
orphanage. Apart from supporting orphan students, this institution is giving
utmost subsistence for the other helpless poor students. Two-thirds of the
students get the opportunity of lodging and food free of cost in this Madrasah.
Moreover, necessary commodities are provided to the students who don’t have any
source of financial support. Besides, relief goods, free medical service and
other charitable supports are also provided for the helpless in the society
several times in a year with great care.
Source of
Income:
Strange to learn, this institution has no source of income of its own. By the
grace of Allah, it is totally dependent on the favour of some generous people.
You are also among them whose own Jakat, Fitrah, Sadkah come to the help for
the development of the institution. But still necessity does not spare the
Madrasah. The students’ dormitory is out of order. During the rains it is in a
total mess. Even the holy pages of the Quran cannot but get wet in the rain. In
this situation the construction of a multistoried dormitory started. But the work
is going on at a slow pace. Moreover, it is getting next to impossible for the
Madrasah to accommodate its 450 students and 25 teachers and staff with
honorarium.
Future
Plan:
In spite of all the obstacles, the institution has some large schemes to be implemented.
There are great plans to flourish Ashrafia Kindergarten and Ashrafia Charitable
Organisation. The Qitab section also needs to be developed into the highest
stage of Dawrah Hadith (Master’s). Some more similar plans are also under
consideration.
